JCP delegation meets with CPV general secretary

November 3, 2011

The Japanese Communist Party delegation visiting Vietnam for theoretical exchange sessions on November 1 held talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong at the CPV head office in Hanoi.

JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, the JCP delegation head, offered congratulations to Trong on the success of the 11th CPV National Congress early this year and on his being elected to the post of CPV general secretary.

JCP Ogata proposed continuing holding bilateral theoretical exchange meetings and hosting the next one in Japan.

CPV Trong in reply said that it will be significant for the two parties to periodically hold theoretical exchange meetings as they provide a great opportunity to learn from each other.

The CPV general secretary welcomed further exchanges of opinions, adding that he saw a lot in common with the JCP in efforts to achieve a socialist and communist society although there are some differences regarding immediate tasks or challenges between the two parties.

Taking the talks as an opportunity to touch on the topic of nuclear energy, JCP Ogata explained the ongoing situation regarding the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan and the JCP position on the nuclear energy issue.

The talks ended in a comradely atmosphere.
